Ultrasound

Tuesday we went for our ultrasound. I was super excited about it until breakfast that morning. Then a wave of nerves hit me...HARD. I apparently am not very good at hiding it. Daniel picked up on my apprehension immediately, which freaked him out. That, in turn, made me feel guilty because I did not want to spoil this experience for him with stupid NICU brain stuff. Anyway, deep breaths..... We went in, & the tech explained very thoroughly what she was doing. I really appreciated that. She asked if we wanted to know the sex. This has been a very heated topic in our house, as I have no desire to know, & Daniel is just as adament about knowing. Poor guy is out of the loop. Im the one feeling all the changes, growing, feeling movement...he has nothing concrete. Who am I to keep that from him? So I told the tech if she got a good clear shot, she could put it in an envelope & we would continue our discussion at home. Well, while on camera, that little baby put one leg right over the other! The tech said she could put her best guess in an envelope for Daniel, but that she wasn't very confident based on the view she had. Daniel told her not to worry about it, so we wait until October :D MOST IMPORTANTLY- everything looks fine so far. I vowed not to ask anal NICU questions, so I looked for what I could see & put that with what we were told. I saw 4 ventricles in the brain. Nobody said "whoa look at the size of those ventricles!" so I'm thinking those were good. Heart-4 chambers all pumping. I could see that. The tech showed us that the stomach had appropriate amniotic fluid in it, & because the bladder & kidneys had the same fluid, everything seemed to be moving through as it should. Eases my mind for the time being. Now we grow :)
